Meursault
The Meursault AOC, established in 1936 in the Côte de Beaune, covers approximately 437 hectares of vineyards, planted almost exclusively with chardonnay for white wines, with very minor pinot noir plantings for reds. Meursault whites are renowned for their richness, buttery texture, and complex aromatic profile combining citrus, yellow fruits, hazelnut, and honey, with excellent aging potential. The clay-limestone soils, sometimes stony, bring finesse and minerality. These wines pair perfectly with fish in sauce, seafood, roasted poultry, and aged cheeses. Notable producers include Domaine Coche-Dury, Domaine Roulot, Domaine Jean-Marc Roulot, Domaine Jacques Prieur, and Domaine Michelot, all recognized for expressing the terroir with elegance and precision.
