The Estate
Château Mangot is a family-owned estate located in Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse, within the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation. Acquired in 1954 by the Todeschini family, the property has been gradually restructured and modernized. Today, brothers Karl and Yann Todeschini continue the legacy of their parents, combining tradition with innovative winemaking. Their vision is demanding, sustainable, and firmly focused on quality.
The 34-hectare vineyard spreads across clay-limestone slopes, benefiting from a rich diversity of soils and exposures. This variety contributes to the aromatic complexity of Château Mangot wines. The vines are primarily Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard is organically farmed, with a constant focus on preserving soil health and biodiversity.
Château Mangot stands out as a dynamic estate, representative of a new generation of committed winemakers. Certified organic since 2020, the estate is also exploring biodynamic practices and broader ecological initiatives. The wines are known for their freshness, finesse, and aging potential, while remaining accessible in their youth. The Todeschini brothers continue to innovate with micro-vinifications and parcel-based cuvées that highlight the richness of their terroir.
The Wine
Not created out of spite in the cellar, but rather in the vineyard, this wine is the result of parcel selection and specific cultural practices.
The direct pressing is followed by a low-temperature fermentation on lees, in stainless steel tanks. A fermentation that is as natural as possible, under oxygen protection, helps to limit the use of sulfites.
