The Estate

Joep Bakx, Audrey's father, is a great wine enthusiast and has developed a passion for oenology and viticulture: he started producing his own wine in 2000. Turning a passion into a profession is a sure way to stay motivated.

His daughter Audrey joined him a few years later, and her creative expertise complemented a father-daughter business that quickly developed a unique concept.Clos Monicord

For as long as she can remember, Audrey has been drawing and expressing herself through the creation of drawings, objects, jewelry, and installations.

When she enters the world of wine, she begins to create labels. Little by little, she learns the work of the vineyard and that of the winery. She then discovers the entire universe of wine and its richness; the encounters during tastings as well as the complexity of the wine industry leading to sales.

Having a foot in the wine industry motivates her to move forward, to progress in her personal projects to attract curious minds and a broader, younger audience.

All Monicord products are now creatively created, selected, blended, and packaged by Audrey, giving each bottle its own story.

The Wine

Winter sowing for organic input and reduction of copper in the soils. Late mowing and fallow lands with a multitude of fruit trees around the vines to stimulate and bring balance to biodiversity.

Systematic replanting for 20 years to maximize the root system and bring out the qualities of the terroir.

No use of insecticide and no glyphosate for many years.

Manual bud thinning. Minimal and late pruning. Manual leaf removal depending on the weather.

Production 45hl/hectare

Manual harvesting in crates.

Indigenous yeasts. Batch fermentation and parcel fermentation in stainless steel tanks.

Start of alcoholic fermentation after maceration at low temperature.

Gentle and moderate pump-overs over several weeks during fermentation

Tasting

This airy red wine is very surprising! While it has the aromas of classic Bordeaux wine (red and black fruits, pepper), the texture is astonishing—light, silky, and incredibly addictive!

Provenance and storage of our wines

All wines and other products come directly from the estates or their exclusive distributors. In some cases, rare and hard-to-find bottles have been purchased from private collectors or professionals. Our expertise guarantees the quality and authenticity of the bottles.

These are stored in the cellar, on Fondaudège Street, in their entirety. The most fragile and rare bottles benefit from aging in a Liebherr or La Sommelière wine cellar.
