Château Saincrit

The history of Château Saincrit dates back to the end of the 19th century. At that time, Vincent Saincrit, a miller by profession, decided to replant vines on the hillside of Montalon, in Saint-André-de-Cubzac, north of Bordeaux. His initiative came after the devastation of phylloxera, which had profoundly disrupted the Bordeaux vineyard. The estate was then passed down within the family for five generations before being taken over in 2003 by Florence Prud’homme, who continues its development while respecting the heritage of the place.

The vineyard now extends over approximately 22 to 23 hectares, on the hills overlooking the meanders of the Dordogne and crossed by the 45th parallel. The vines are planted on clay-limestone and sandy soils particularly suited to Bordeaux grape varieties. Merlot occupies a predominant place there, accompanied notably by Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Sémillon. This terroir allows for the production of Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur wines that combine fruit, freshness, and balance.

Since her arrival at the head of the estate, Florence Prud’homme has engaged Château Saincrit in an ambitious environmental approach. After several years of work, the property obtained Organic Agriculture certification in 2023. The wines of the estate reflect this philosophy with accessible and contemporary cuvées, but also more ambitious selections like Utopie, produced in limited quantities. Today, Château Saincrit stands out as one of the dynamic estates in the Saint-André-de-Cubzac region, combining respect for the terroir, innovation, and Bordeaux identity.
