The Producer
The Domaine Henri & Gilles Remoriquet is a family-owned estate located in Nuits-Saint-Georges, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits. Several generations of winemakers have succeeded one another here, and today it is Gilles Remoriquet who leads the estate, continuing the work started by his father Henri. The estate has become known for its attachment to Burgundian traditions, but also for a constant desire to evolve cultural and winemaking practices towards ever more precision and respect for the terroir.
The estate operates approximately 9.5 hectares of vines, mainly spread over Nuits-Saint-Georges (in village and premier crus), but also in Vosne-Romanée and in the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits. Pinot Noir makes up the majority of the grape varieties, with a little Chardonnay in white. Among the prestigious plots are notably Les Damodes, Les Bousselots, Les Saint-Georges, as well as a Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Au-Dessus des Malconsorts," located on the edge of the famous appellation La Tâche. These terroirs offer a rich palette, ranging from wines of immediate pleasure to those for long aging.
Today, Gilles Remoriquet produces elegant and precise wines, crafted with hand-picked grapes, controlled vinifications, and careful aging in oak barrels. The estate adopts a reasoned viticulture and highlights the finesse of Pinot Noir, with deep, refined reds typical of Nuits-Saint-Georges. Its flagship cuvées – particularly the premier crus of Nuits and Vosne-Romanée – are sought after by enthusiasts for their balance between structure and refinement. The estate also offers Hautes-Côtes de Nuits reds and whites, which serve as an accessible entry point into the Remoriquet style.
The Wine
Old vines of Pinot Noir on clay-limestone soils in Nuits-Saint-Georges. The harvest is manual, with a long maceration to extract color and structure. The aging lasts 15 to 18 months in oak barrels, including a portion of new wood.
Tasting
The Nuits-Saint-Georges “Les Allots” opens with aromas of ripe black fruits, violet, and fine spicy notes. The palate is ample, supported by tight yet elegant tannins, with a beautiful freshness that balances the power. The long finish reveals hints of underbrush and licorice, promising a beautiful evolution in the cellar.
