Anjou

The Anjou AOC, established in 1936, covers about 1,400 hectares in the Loire Valley. It allows red wines (mainly cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon) and white wines (chenin blanc). Soils range from schist and sandstone to limestone, giving the wines both richness and structure. Anjou reds vary from supple to powerful, while the whites are fresh, floral, or sometimes off-dry. Pairings: roasted poultry, mushroom risotto, soft cheeses, mild curries.
