Pomerol

The Pomerol AOC, established in 1936, covers about 800 hectares on the right bank of the Dordogne River. It is known for its rich and velvety red wines, mainly made from merlot with a touch of cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon. The clay-gravel soils contribute roundness and complexity. Pomerol is famous for prestigious estates like Château Pétrus. These wines pair excellently with sauced dishes, roasted white meats, and mushroom-based dishes.
