Burgundy
The Bourgogne AOC, established in 1937, spans around 14,500 hectares and serves as the regional entry-level designation for Burgundy wines. It includes diverse terroirs across several departments, with predominantly clay-limestone soils. The appellation allows red wines (pinot noir), white wines (chardonnay), and rosé, with styles ranging from fresh and fruity to more structured depending on origin. It is often the gateway to discovering Burgundy. Ideal pairings include fine charcuterie, roasted poultry, sauced fish dishes, and soft cheeses.
