Irancy
The Irancy AOC, established in 1999, covers about 140 hectares in the Yonne department of Burgundy. It mainly produces red wines based on pinot noir, often blended with a small amount of César, an ancient local grape that adds structure and character. The clay-limestone soils and proximity to the Yonne valley yield fresh, fruity, and spicy wines with good aging potential. Fun fact: Irancy is known for its typical regional red wines and its rare pinot noir rosés. These wines pair perfectly with coq au vin, charcuterie, and soft cheeses.
