Alsace
The Alsace AOC, established in 1962, covers about 15,000 hectares along the Vosges Mountains. It is mainly known for its aromatic white wines (riesling, gewurztraminer, pinot gris, muscat) and some reds (pinot noir), benefiting from varied soils such as granite, schist, and limestone. The wines are fresh, lively, and fruity, perfect with choucroute, foie gras, or fish dishes. Notable producers include Zind-Humbrecht, Trimbach, and Hugel & Fils.
