Gevrey-Chambertin
The Gevrey-Chambertin AOC, established in 1937, covers about 390 hectares in the Côte de Nuits, Burgundy. It is famous for powerful, tannic red wines made from pinot noir, with aromas of dark fruit, spices, and great aging potential. The clay-limestone terroir provides strength and complexity. Gevrey-Chambertin includes nine Grand Crus, including the famous Chambertin and Chambertin-Clos de Bèze. Fun fact: Gevrey-Chambertin is nicknamed the “queen of the Côte de Nuits appellations” due to the quality and fame of its wines. These wines pair well with grilled red meats, sauced dishes, or matured cheeses. Notable producers: Domaine Armand Rousseau, Domaine Denis Mortet, Domaine Dugat-Py.
