The Estate
Founded in 1808 in Urville, in the Aube region, the Drappier House traces its roots even further back to the 12th century, when Saint Bernard built the Cistercian cellars still in use today. Remaining family-owned through the generations, the estate has preserved its independence and strong identity, now embodied by Michel Drappier and his children. Their philosophy combines respect for Champagne traditions with innovative practices, always in the service of terroir expression.
Located in the heart of the Côte des Bar, the vineyard grows on limestone and marl soils ideally suited to Pinot Noir, Drappier’s signature grape variety. The estate also cultivates Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay, as well as rare and ancient grapes such as Arbanne, Petit Meslier, and Blanc Vrai, reflecting a deep commitment to biodiversity. Sustainable viticulture practices are at the core of their approach, with reduced interventions and great care given to soil health.
Today, Drappier is recognized as one of the most authentic Champagne producers, equally renowned for its classic cuvées and its more unusual creations, such as the Brut Nature “Sans Soufre” or champagnes from forgotten varieties. The House is also famous for its spectacular bottle formats, from the quarter to the 30-liter Melchisedech, while maintaining an artisanal spirit. With a style that is vinous, pure, and precise, Drappier champagnes appeal to wine lovers seeking elegance and sincerity.
