The Estate
Founded in 2017 in Cadaujac, south of Bordeaux, this family-owned business is named after the founders' grandmother, Cedrik and Axel Nadé, a strong, demanding, and trustworthy woman. Values that the two brothers wanted to embed in the DNA of their establishment.
The Mounicq House has set itself the mission of selecting and crafting remarkable, rare, and exclusive eaux-de-vie, inspired by the world of vines and wine. Of unparalleled quality, they highlight the passionate producers who work to offer the fruit of their exceptional know-how and the richness of their terroir.
The Wine
French whisky born in Bordeaux, Assemblage is the result of the collaboration between Aymeric Roborel de Climens and Maison Mounicq, creator of exceptional spirits inspired by the world of vines and wine. This single malt has been aged in three casks from great Bordeaux châteaux: Merlot from Château Guadet in Saint-Émilion, Sémillon from Château Doisy-Daëne in Sauternes, and Sauvignon from Clos Floridène in Graves.
Tasting
Despite its alcohol content of 50.2%, this whisky is, paradoxically, very delicate and smooth, much like the other creations of the Mounicq House.
The three years of aging in French oak give ASSEMBLAGE aromas of flambéed bananas and ripe fruits in the mid-palate, finishing with delicate, persistent bitter citrus notes. On the nose, it reveals subtle fragrances of candied fruits, vanilla, and cocoa.
Aging in old Bordeaux wine barrels allows ASSEMBLAGE to reveal the subtle flavors of the different grape varieties:
The Merlot, St Émilion, offers notes of red berries, prunes, underbrush, and spices, while the Sémillon, Sauternes, provides nuances of candied fruits, acacia flowers, and honey. As for the Sauvignon, Graves, it brings freshness and slight hints of bitterness.
Their union provides a pretty dress and great complexity.
