Château Larruau

Château Larruau is noted on the birth certificate of the former Château Dubignon Talbot, a wine recognized in the 19th century, whose nobility was then endorsed by a position as a 3rd Classified Growth in the 1855 classification. 

Subsequently, shared and dispersed several times, the estate, which will ultimately be stripped of its name, a guarantee of its notoriety, sees its image gradually fade over time. So much so that after the Second World War, Bernard Château's grandfather, the current owner, faced with economic difficulties, is forced to sell part of his vineyard, now reduced to a few hectares.

It will later fall to Bernard Château the heavy task of reconstructing an estate around this residual vineyard, with the limited means initially allocated to him… His energy, his attachment to the family land, supported by the help of his sister and brother, will be the driving forces, starting in 1971, of a relentless search, made up of successive purchases and exchanges of land that will ultimately compose an excellent terroir of 12 hectares. In 1980, this new ensemble will take the name of Larruau from the neighborhood of the village of Margaux where the former Château Dubignon is located…

In 2019, Bernard Château decides to abandon the direct management of his estate. Unmoved by the siren songs attracted by this enticing wine heritage, he decides to entrust the responsibility to Miguel Martinho, owner of the eponymous château, with whom he became friends in the early 1990s. Under the benevolent eye of its owner, Miguel, well-versed in the best vineyard techniques thanks to his work as a wine entrepreneur, then dedicates himself to continuing the work begun…
