Mas de Daumas Gassac
Mas de Daumas Gassac
Mas de Daumas Gassac was born in the early 1970s from the meeting between Aimé Guibert and geologist Henri Enjalbert. Together, they identified an exceptional terroir in the Gassac valley, north of Montpellier, that had previously gone unnoticed. Contrary to the practices of the time in Languedoc, Aimé Guibert planted Cabernet Sauvignon and founded a domain that would quickly become emblematic, often referred to as a 'grand cru of Languedoc.' From its very first vintages, Mas established itself on the finest international tables.
The vineyard extends into a cool, wooded valley, benefiting from a unique microclimate. The soils consist of deep, highly draining glacial gravel, resting on a limestone subsoil. This rare combination, along with the refreshing influence of the Gassac and a strong natural biodiversity, allows for a slow and balanced maturation of the grapes. The vines are cultivated without herbicides or synthetic products, in an environmentally friendly approach long before it became the norm.
Today, the estate is run by the Guibert family, true to the original spirit. The wines of Mas de Daumas Gassac stand out for their elegance, freshness, and remarkable aging potential. The great red wine, an atypical blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon complemented by rare grape varieties, remains an absolute reference. The estate also produces great white and rosé wines, as well as more accessible cuvées, all marked by a strong and timeless identity.
