The Producer
Founded in the 19th century and firmly established in Morey-Saint-Denis, Domaine Robert Groffier Père & Fils has become one of the major references of the Côte de Nuits. It was truly under the impetus of Robert Groffier, in the second half of the 20th century, that the estate gained international renown, thanks to early bottling at the estate and meticulous enhancement of its finest plots. Now led by Nicolas Groffier, the estate continues this tradition of excellence with a precise and demanding vision of Burgundy pinot noir.
The vineyard extends over approximately 8 hectares, spread across prestigious appellations of Morey-Saint-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, and Gevrey-Chambertin. The estate notably owns iconic plots in Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru and Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru, as well as the famous Premier Cru Les Amoureuses in Chambolle-Musigny. The clay-limestone soils, the diversity of exposures, and the advanced age of the vines give the wines remarkable depth and complexity. Each climate is worked with precision to express its identity as accurately as possible.
In the cellar, the approach is measured and respectful of the fruit: careful harvesting, rigorous sorting, delicate extraction, and controlled aging in oak barrels, with a proportion of new wood adapted to each cuvée. The wines of Domaine Robert Groffier charm with their silky texture, aromatic intensity, and exceptional aging potential. They embody a style that is both refined and sensual, where the finesse of Chambolle-Musigny meets the structure and depth of the great terroirs of the Côte de Nuits.
