Haut-Médoc

The Haut-Médoc AOC, established in 1935, covers about 5,600 hectares on the left bank of the Gironde River, north of Bordeaux. This appellation is famous for its elegant and structured red wines, mainly made from cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc, and petit verdot grapes. The gravelly soils promote good drainage, essential for high-quality grapes. Haut-Médoc is known for its classified growths, such as Château Margaux and Château Latour, which are among the most prestigious wines in the world. The wines pair perfectly with red meats, game, and aged cheeses.
