Pessac-Léognan
The Pessac-Léognan AOC, established in 1987, covers about 1,600 hectares southwest of Bordeaux. It produces elegant and powerful red wines from cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and cabernet franc, as well as aromatic dry white wines from sauvignon blanc and sémillon. The gravel and clay-limestone soils provide complexity and finesse. Pessac-Léognan is known for classified growths such as Château Haut-Brion. The reds pair well with grilled meats and rich sauces, while the whites complement seafood and poultry dishes with sauce.
