Charles Palmer was an English general who gave his name to the property he acquired during the Restoration in 1814. These British roots have made Palmer a historically cherished wine across the Channel. In 1843, after Charles Palmer's bankruptcy, the Pereire brothers acquired the estate and built the current château, which is particularly recognizable in Margaux. Classified as a 3rd growth in the 1855 classification, it has always been regarded as a second growth, if not a first. Château Palmer is now owned by the Mähler-Besse and Sichel families.
A distinctive feature of Château Palmer is its high proportion of Merlot in an appellation typically dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon. A conversion to biodynamic farming was initiated in 2008.
52% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Petit Verdot
Alter Ego was launched with the 1998 vintage, driven by the idea of producing another facet to the estate. Spontaneous, round, generous, and silky, this 'other wine' is both intense and light, rich and delicate. It has the elegance and grain de tanin of its predecessor. Throughout its creation, Alter Ego is led by the same high standards that govern the composition of Château Palmer's great wine.

Provenance and storage of our wines
All wines and other products come directly from the estates or their exclusive distributors. In some cases, rare and hard-to-find bottles have been purchased from private collectors or professionals. Our expertise guarantees the quality and authenticity of the bottles.
These are stored in the cellar, on Fondaudège Street, in their entirety. The most fragile and rare bottles benefit from aging in a Liebherr or La Sommelière wine cellar.
