The Producer
Domaine La Croix Montjoie is a modern wine adventure that began in 2009 at the foot of the Vézelay hill, in Yonne, in the heart of Burgundy. The name of the estate refers to an ancient cross located at the crossroads between Vézelay and Tharoiseau, from where pilgrims first caught sight of the basilica and were filled with joy. It is in the old farmhouse of the Tharoiseau castle that Sophie and Matthieu Woillez — an agronomist and an oenologist, respectively — settled after experiences in various French vineyards, determined to create their own estate. Their shared passion for wine and their complementary skills shaped the identity of the estate from its very first harvest.
The vineyard now extends over approximately 15 hectares spread around the village of Tharoiseau, on a clay-limestone slope characteristic of the Bourgogne Vézelay appellation. This unique terroir combines fossil-rich soils and an ideal south/southeast exposure, which promotes a slow and regular ripening of Chardonnay, the estate's flagship grape variety. The clay-limestone soils, supported by the freshness of the continental climate and the influence of the Morvan massif, produce wines that are both mineral, fresh, and balanced, perfectly representative of northern Burgundy. Since 2021, the entire estate has been certified organic, reflecting the owners' desire to work with nature rather than against it.
Today, Sophie and Matthieu Woillez enthusiastically manage the estate, supported by a passionate team, and cultivate their vines with a focus on the most accurate expression of the terroir. Their range of wines includes several cuvées of Bourgogne Vézelay white (such as L’Impatiente, L’Élégante, and La Voluptueuse), light reds, and sometimes a Crémant de Bourgogne, all crafted with a respectful approach to the vine and fine winemaking. The estate has become a reference for lovers of organic Burgundy wines, appreciated for its freshness, minerality, and elegance. Beyond production, the place also offers wine tourism activities — tastings, cellar and vineyard tours — that allow sharing the history and philosophy of the owners in an exceptional setting facing the hill of Vézelay.

Tasting
Buttery and brioche notes from the first nose, a golden hue that announces a rich and concentrated wine. The Voluptuous offers a beautiful balance between delicate woody notes and the intense freshness of citrus. On the palate, it is complex and powerful.
A wine to pair with creamy white meats, sauced fish, and mushroom risottos.
