The Domaine Didier Dagueneau, founded in 1982 and internationally renowned for its exceptional sauvignons, faced a challenging start as the public rejected the owner's unconventional, intuition-based winemaking methods. Through determination, he managed to convince both enthusiasts and professionals of the value of his practices. His success is rooted in his meticulous nature and ability to "listen to the wine" throughout the vinification and aging process. Sustainable farming, pruning to control yields, manual harvesting, and strict grape selection, along with an exceptional technical team, all contribute to the domaine's success. Following Didier Dagueneau's accidental death in 2008, his son Benjamin has successfully taken over.
A blend of old vines aged 25 to 60 years, whose fruit seems to have ripened solely to create age-worthy wines, Silex de Dagueneau is unquestionably the flagship cuvée of the estate. The meticulous pursuit of optimal ripeness, the use of indigenous yeasts, and extended aging on lees (without racking) result in a Sauvignon Blanc of unparalleled purity. The élevage, executed with meticulous precision in 320- or 600-liter barrels, is barely perceptible, allowing the wine's character to shine through.
Drinking it in its youth would be a grave mistake—this is a cuvée that demands a minimum of 10 years of patience to reach the freshness, balance, and persistence so characteristic of Silex.
In 2017 and 2018, the wines were downgraded to Vin de France status.

Provenance and storage of our wines
All wines and other products come directly from the estates or their exclusive distributors. In some cases, rare and hard-to-find bottles have been purchased from private collectors or professionals. Our expertise guarantees the quality and authenticity of the bottles.
These are stored in the cellar, on Fondaudège Street, in their entirety. The most fragile and rare bottles benefit from aging in a Liebherr or La Sommelière wine cellar.
