The Estate
The Laffitte-Teston Estate, located in the heart of the Madiran appellation, has been a family-run operation for several generations. It was in the 1970s that Jean-Marc Laffitte gave new momentum to the estate by modernizing the facilities and focusing on revealing the potential of the indigenous grape varieties of the Southwest. His rigorous work, recognized numerous times, has positioned the estate among the references of the appellation.
The vineyard spans about thirty hectares, primarily planted on clay-gravel soils characteristic of the Pyrenean foothills. The generous sunlight and the climatic influences brought by the mountains allow the Tannat — the flagship grape of Madiran — to reach a beautiful maturity. The plots are cultivated with respect for the soil and the vine, with controlled yields to promote the expression of the terroir.
The red wines from the estate, primarily made from Tannat, are recognized for their structure and aging potential, while maintaining a vibrant fruitiness thanks to precise winemaking. The range also includes dry and sweet Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh, where Petit Manseng and Gros Manseng provide freshness, complexity, and balance. The Laffitte-Teston signature: cuvées that are both refined and accessible, perfect for discovering the richness of wines from the Southwest.
