The Producer
Château Margaux is one of the most iconic names in the Bordeaux vineyard, with a history dating back to the 12th century. Already recognized in the 18th century as one of the greatest wines of the region, it was honored in 1855 during the famous imperial classification, achieving the supreme rank of Premier Grand Cru Classé. Over the centuries, the estate has endured through the ages while maintaining a reputation for excellence, upheld by owners and teams deeply committed to the purest expression of their terroir.
Located in the heart of the Margaux appellation, the vineyard benefits from an exceptional terroir, primarily composed of deep gravel resting on clay-limestone soils. This structure allows for perfect drainage and promotes a slow and even maturation of the grapes. Cabernet Sauvignon reigns supreme here, complemented by Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc, giving rise to wines of great finesse, both powerful, elegant, and remarkably balanced.
Today, Château Margaux embodies a subtle dialogue between tradition and modernity. The viticultural practices are of extreme precision, with constant attention given to each plot, while the winemaking aims to respect the identity of the vintage and the place. The Grand Vin of Château Margaux stands out for its aromatic complexity, silky texture, and immense aging potential, making each bottle an absolute reference for enthusiasts and collectors around the world.
The Wine
Tasting
It is in more difficult conditions that the greatest terroirs reveal themselves. Château Margaux 1987 is characterized by a lot of finesse and aromatic complexity; it certainly lacks the richness and opulence of a great vintage, but it possesses the distinction and pedigree of a great wine.
