The Producer
Founded in 2017, in Cadaujac, south of Bordeaux, this family-owned house is named after the grandmother of the founders, Cedrik and Axel Nadé, a strong, demanding, and trustworthy woman. Values that the two brothers wanted to embed in the genes of their establishment.
Maison Mounicq has set itself the mission of selecting and crafting remarkable, rare, and exclusive spirits, inspired by the world of vines and wine. Of unparalleled quality, they highlight the passionate producers who work to offer the fruit of their exceptional know-how and the richness of their terroir.
The Wine
For this new collaboration with Aymeric Roborel de Climens, Cedrik and Axel Nadé selected and then blended two barrels of Alsatian whiskies. The first whisky is aged in an old Merlot barrel from Clos Manou (Saint-Christoly-Médoc 33), while the second is a peated whisky at 40 ppm.
Tasting
This French whisky offers a vanilla nose, followed by woody, smoky, and slightly wine-like notes. On the palate, the fruity roundness gives way to a long, toasted finish. Best enjoyed neat at room temperature. It pairs perfectly with charcuterie, cheeses, chocolate desserts, or foie gras.
