The Producer
Clos Monicord is a family-owned estate located in Vérac, a few kilometers from Saint-Émilion, acquired in 2000 by the Bakx family. At the origin of the project is Joep Bakx, a passionate amateur turned winemaker, quickly joined by his daughter Audrey Bakx. Together, they develop a domain with a strong identity, blending wine production and artistic approach, where each cuvée is conceived as a standalone object, with a true creative effort around the labels and storytelling.
The vineyard is situated on a raised clay-limestone plateau of about 70 meters, benefiting from a cooler microclimate than the surrounding areas, favorable for a slow and balanced maturation of the grapes. Located near Pomerol and Fronsac, it is managed according to agroforestry principles, with particular attention paid to the natural balance of the soils and the vines. This approach allows for fresher wines, with better tension and a more precise aromatic expression.
Engaged for several years in a strong environmental approach, the estate is evolving towards organic and biodynamic viticulture, with the goal of producing wines without additives or with minimal intervention in the cellar. The use of natural preparations (plants, herbal teas) and the search for a global balance reflect a clear intention: to return to a viticulture that is more respectful of life and the consumer. This philosophy is found in the wines, produced in small quantities, with a strong identity, both authentic, expressive, and resolutely personal.

Tasting
With its finesse, Bubbly de Monicord is a remarkable aperitif, but its strength allows it to be a favored companion for a meal.
