The history of Domaine Zind-Humbrecht
The history of Domaine Zind-Humbrecht is rooted in a particularly ancient Alsatian winemaking tradition. The Humbrecht family has been cultivating vines since 1620, while the estate as we know it today was born in 1959, from the merger of the farms of the Humbrecht family, based in Gueberschwihr, and Zind, originally from Wintzenheim. Under the leadership of Léonard and Geneviève Humbrecht, and then their son Olivier Humbrecht, the estate gradually established itself as one of the great references of Alsace wines. Today, Olivier and Margaret Humbrecht continue this family story alongside their son Pierre-Emile, with a constant desire to highlight the great Alsatian terroirs.
Exceptional terroirs and biodynamic viticulture
The Zind-Humbrecht estate operates about 42 hectares of vineyards spread across several major terroirs of Alsace, notably the Grand Crus Rangen, Goldert, Hengst, Brand, Sommerberg, and Wineck-Schlossberg, as well as renowned lieux-dits such as Clos Windsbuhl, Clos Jebsal, Heimbourg, Herrenweg, and Clos Häuserer. This diversity of soils and exposures allows the estate to reveal the richness and complexity of Alsatian grape varieties. Since 1997, the property has been working according to the principles of biodynamics, an approach that places the life of the soil and the balance of the ecosystem at the heart of viticulture. Manual harvesting, precise interventions, the use of animal traction, and the use of compost produced on the estate contribute to this philosophy. In the cellar, the ripe and concentrated grapes are vinified with minimal intervention: fermentations are slow, the wines remain on total lees for at least six months, and bottling generally occurs between 12 and 24 months after the harvest, in order to preserve the expression of each terroir as much as possible.
The Zind-Humbrecht estate today
Today, Zind-Humbrecht is considered one of the most emblematic estates of great wines from Alsace and one of the pioneers of biodynamic viticulture in the region. The philosophy of the estate is based on a constant search for balance between the vine, the soil, and the wine, with the ambition to let each terroir express itself as precisely as possible. The wines of the estate stand out for their richness, depth, and strong identity, whether it is Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, or other Alsatian grape varieties, with cuvées from exceptional terroirs capable of evolving for many years in the bottle. True to its history and vision for the future, Domaine Zind-Humbrecht continues to carry a demanding and deeply personal interpretation of Alsace, where biodynamics and the search for the expression of terroir occupy a central place.

Tasting
Deep golden color. Its notes of smoke and flint, of white-fleshed fruits. On the palate, the wine is straight, lively, chiseled, while still retaining a certain roundness. Enormous length.
