Bordeaux

The Bordeaux AOC, established in 1936, covers a vast area around the city of Bordeaux, totaling about 115,000 hectares, making it one of the largest appellations in France. It mainly produces red wines from cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and cabernet franc, as well as dry and sweet white wines. Bordeaux is a very diverse appellation, with wines ranging from everyday drinking to complex crus. The name “Bordeaux” has become synonymous worldwide with wine excellence. Red wines pair well with red meats and cheeses, while whites go well with seafood and poultry. Notable producers include Château Haut-Brion and Château d'Yquem
