The Producer
Located in Saint-Bris-le-Vineux, in the heart of Yonne, Domaine Bersan is part of a long family winemaking tradition dating back to the 15th century. From generation to generation, the Bersan family has shaped its vineyard with consistency and rigor, remaining deeply attached to the identity of the wines from northern Burgundy. This family continuity has allowed for the preservation of a precise and sincere style, true to the history of the village and its appellations.
The estate extends over typical clay-limestone soils of the region, rich in marine fossils, which give the wines tension, freshness, and aromatic expression. Saint-Bris, the only Burgundy appellation dedicated to Sauvignon Blanc, occupies a central place alongside Irancy and the Bourgogne Côtes d'Auxerre. The exposure of the plots and the geological diversity allow the estate to produce wines that are both straight, mineral, and deeply marked by their origin.
Today, Domaine Bersan is managed with a respectful approach to the vine and wine, favoring controlled yields and precise vinifications. Each cuvée seeks to authentically express its terroir, without artifice, highlighting the purity of the fruit and balance. The wines from the estate charm with their honesty, freshness, and ability to accompany both refined gastronomy and simpler moments, always with a pronounced Burgundian signature.
The Wine
Made from old vines on Kimmeridgian soils, this wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels to bring out the full concentration of this soil through the richness of the Chardonnay grape.
Tasting
The first nose is very ripe fruit with notes of peach, fig, and gingerbread. After aeration, the terroir aspect emerges. The palate is taut, maritime with a salivating finish. Well-integrated oak. The more it is aerated, the fresher the wine becomes.
