The Producer
Founded in 1839, the Boissonneau Vineyards embody the history of a family of Bordeaux winemakers established in Saint-Michel-de-Lapujade for six generations. Heir to an ancient heritage with viticultural roots that date back well before the creation of the estate, the vineyard has been built around an independent and family philosophy, carried today by Pascal and Nicolas Boissonneau. Early on focused on export, the estate has managed to combine tradition and openness while affirming a strong identity as artisan winemakers. The conversion to organic farming initiated in 2007, followed by biodynamic certification obtained in 2021, illustrates this desire to embed the family history in a sustainable and demanding vision of wine.
The terroir of Vignobles Boissonneau is expressed through two complementary anchors. In Entre-deux-Mers, the hills of Saint-Michel-de-Lapujade rest on a diversity of soils and host a mosaic of Bordeaux grape varieties, giving rise to precise and balanced wines under the labels Château de la Vieille Tour and Château Moulin de Ferrand. Further south, their estate in Côtes du Marmandais offers another interpretation of the Southwest, particularly with the Abouriou grape variety, which the family highlights. This richness of terroirs is enhanced by a vibrant approach to the vineyard — biodiversity, soil work, amphorae, careful aging — in service of wines that seek both the purity of the fruit and the expression of the places.
Today, Vignobles Boissonneau stands out with cuvées that blend Bordeaux classicism and a spirit of innovation, from barrel aging to sulfur-free vinifications, including experiments in amphora. True to its identity as an independent winemaker, the estate produces characterful wines where precision, freshness, and sincerity of the terroir take precedence. Driven by a dynamic and committed new generation, the estate asserts a contemporary vision of the Bordeaux vineyard, rooted in history but resolutely looking towards the future.
