The Producer
Originally from Beine, Christophe Patrice first worked with his father and uncles before going out on his own: in 2006, he created his own vineyard of 5 hectares, then took the opportunity in 2011 to take over the estate of Daniel Roblot. This acquisition brought the total area to 22 hectares and confirmed the family's commitment to precision viticulture, which remains independent and engaged.
The estate now extends over the municipalities of Beine, Courgis, and Chablis: Kimmeridgian soils rich in marl and fossils, varied exposures, with vines averaging 45 years old (some over 70 years). This patchwork offers complementary expressions of Chardonnay, from Petit Chablis to Chablis 1er Cru Beauregard, with wines marked by the salinity, tension, and minerality typical of the region.
At the head of the operation with his wife Aurélie, Christophe Patrice continues the HVE conversion, practices parcel vinification, whole cluster pressing, and long aging on lees to preserve the energy of the fruit. The house style emphasizes purity and drinkability without sacrificing depth: his 2023 wines confirm a know-how that appeals to both enthusiasts and wine merchants for export.
The Wine
Fossil-rich limestone soil. Manual harvesting, aging in tanks.
Tasting
Bright light yellow color, very inviting. On the nose, citrus notes echo aromas of white fruits like apricot. The palate is quite mineral, straightforward with very refreshing lemony notes, and a roundness that brings balance.
