The Producer
The Domaine Henri & Gilles Remoriquet is a family-owned estate located in Nuits-Saint-Georges, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits. Several generations of winemakers have succeeded one another here, and today it is Gilles Remoriquet who leads the estate, continuing the work started by his father Henri. The estate has become known for its commitment to Burgundian traditions, as well as for a constant desire to evolve cultural and winemaking practices towards greater precision and respect for the terroir.
The estate operates approximately 9.5 hectares of vines, primarily located in Nuits-Saint-Georges (in village and premier cru), but also in Vosne-Romanée and the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits. Pinot Noir makes up the majority of the grape varieties, with a little Chardonnay for white. Among the prestigious parcels are notably Les Damodes, Les Bousselots, Les Saint-Georges, as well as a Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Au-Dessus des Malconsorts," located on the edge of the famous appellation La Tâche. These terroirs offer a rich palette, ranging from wines for immediate pleasure to those suitable for long aging.
Today, Gilles Remoriquet produces elegant and precise wines, crafted with hand-picked grapes, controlled vinification, and careful aging in oak barrels. The estate adopts a reasoned viticulture and highlights the finesse of Pinot Noir, with deep, refined reds typical of Nuits-Saint-Georges. Its flagship cuvées – particularly the premier crus of Nuits and Vosne-Romanée – are sought after by enthusiasts for their balance between structure and refinement. The estate also offers Hautes-Côtes de Nuits reds and whites, which serve as an accessible entry point into the Remoriquet style.
The Wine
Rigorous sorting at the winery, total or partial destemming depending on the vintage, cold pre-fermentation maceration lasting 3 to 4 days. Long fermentation, 25 to 28 days, for a gentle extraction, allowing for a beautiful expression of aromas and tannins. Aging in oak barrels, of which 15 to 20% are new, for 14 to 16 months.
Light filtration on white earth.
Tasting
Very beautiful intense ruby red color. Rich and complex nose where sweet spices accompany well-ripened black fruits and cherry pit. The palate is ample and has a beautiful structure, giving this wine very good hold and excellent length.
