The Producer
Château Soucherie is a historic property in Anjou, with origins dating back to the Middle Ages. Long anchored in the wine landscape of the Layon hills, the estate has traversed the centuries while maintaining a strong identity linked to the great white wines of the Loire. It experienced a new momentum at the end of the 20th century when the Béguinot family took over the estate with the ambition of restoring its nobility and viticultural precision.
Located on the schist hills of Anjou Noir, the vineyard of Château Soucherie benefits from a remarkable terroir, primarily composed of schist and facing south. These poor and draining soils, combined with the influence of the Loire and Layon, provide ideal conditions for the expression of Chenin Blanc. The vines, managed with rigor, produce grapes with balanced maturity, capable of producing both great dry wines and sweet wines of great finesse.
Today, Château Soucherie is recognized as one of the essential references of Anjou. The estate is managed organically, with precise work in the vineyard and low-intervention winemaking, favoring the pure expression of the terroir. The wines stand out for their tension, depth, and aging potential, embodying a modern and demanding vision of the great Chenins of the Loire.
The Wine
Encépagement : 100% chenin blanc, 5 500 pieds / ha.
Terroir : Constitué de schistes et de limons argilo-sableux dont environ 35% d’argile avec une présence importante de graviers schisteux rouge. A 35 cm en profondeur se trouvent des altérites de schiste.
Vinification : Récolte manuelle en caisse de 25kg suivi d’un pressurage pneumatique séquentiel lent et doux. La fermentation alcoolique s’effectue en barriques de 500l dont 20% sont neuves. L’élevage se poursuit en fûts pendant 12 mois sans soutirage. Vendanges à la main. Mise en bouteille au Château.
Tasting
An excellent white wine from the Loire, both pure and refreshing. It pairs easily with a variety of dishes and is perfect for all occasions.
The ideal tasting age for Blanc Ivoire is generally between 3 and 6 years after its harvest.
Served at a temperature of 10 - 12°c, this wine is easy to pair. Sushi, grilled fish, or cheese such as Brie de Meaux or aged Cantal, this dry white can be enjoyed in all circumstances.
