The Producer
The history of Vignobles Reboul-Salze is closely linked to the vision of Christophe Reboul-Salze, a player in the world of great Bordeaux wines since the 1980s, who was early convinced of the potential of the Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux terroirs. Through his properties, notably Château Gigault, acquired and then developed as an emblematic estate, he has built an identity based on rigor and the search for expression of the terroirs. Supported for many years by the team of Stéphane Derenoncourt, the estate cultivates a philosophy focused on balance, precision, and authenticity.
The vineyard extends over a mosaic of remarkable terroirs, with a strong clay-limestone identity, particularly on the soft limestone plateaus of Mazion and Saint-Genès-de-Blaye. On these soils, the merlot — the central grape variety of the estate — finds a unique expression, marked by freshness, a saline tension, and fine tannins. The viticultural work, committed to an environmentally respectful approach with organic conversion initiated in 2020, is accompanied by precision viticulture aimed at translating the personality of each plot. This interpretation of the terroir gives rise to deep, balanced, and elegant wines, characterized by a true signature style.
Today, the Vignobles Reboul-Salze embody a contemporary vision of great Bordeaux wines, where tradition and innovation respond to each other. Iconic cuvées like those from Château Gigault reflect this quest for harmony, with refined, precise wines crafted for both aging and immediate enjoyment. Between the demands in the vineyard, meticulous vinifications, and a constant search for elegance, the estate asserts a strong identity, true to its ambition: to reveal the full nobility of the Blaye terroirs.
