The Producer
The Stéphane Bernaudeau estate, located in Martigné-Briand in Maine-et-Loire, is an emblematic micro-winery of Anjou. A former collaborator of Mark Angéli at the Domaine de la Sansonnière, Stéphane Bernaudeau launched his own estate in 2002. He passionately cultivates a few hectares of biodynamic vines, mainly Chenin, on exceptional terroirs. True to an artisanal vision of wine, he works alone or almost alone, with a spirit of great rigor, producing highly sought-after cuvées that demonstrate rare precision and purity.
The estate's terroir is primarily based on schist and quartz soils, giving the wines a vibrant minerality. The yields are intentionally low, the harvests are manual, and the vinifications are natural: indigenous yeasts, no additives, very little or no sulfur. The aging is long, often in old barrels, to reveal all the complexity of Chenin. The result: whites of great tension, deep, that combine finesse, energy, and remarkable aging potential.
The Wine
Terres Blanches is vinified without additives, from Chenins grown biodynamically on schists and quartz. Manual harvesting, indigenous yeasts, and long aging in old barrels ensure aromatic finesse and mineral precision.
Tasting
Terres Blanches reveals a pure and intense nose, blending citrus, white flowers, and smoky notes. The palate is taut, crystalline, with great energy and marked salinity. The finish, long and vibrant, leaves a persistent mineral imprint.
