The Mas del Périé is the estate of Fabien Jouves, an emblematic figure of the renewal of Cahors. After training as an oenologist and several experiences abroad, Fabien took over the family estate in the early 2000s with a clear idea: to reveal the true face of malbec, far from the rigid standards of the appellation. Very quickly, he established himself as one of the most creative and committed winemakers in the Southwest, infusing Cahors with a new, free, and contemporary energy.

The vineyard mainly extends over the limestone plateaus of the Causses du Quercy, at over 300 meters in altitude, with soils of Kimmeridgian limestone and red clays. This demanding terroir, swept by winds and marked by strong thermal amplitudes, brings freshness, tension, and depth to the wines. The vines are cultivated biodynamically, with extreme care given to soil life, controlled yields, and the purest expression of the place.

Today, Fabien Jouves produces parcel wines and more free wines, always guided by the search for drinkability, energy, and sincerity. Low-intervention vinifications, indigenous yeasts, reduced or even absent sulfur depending on the cuvées: each wine seeks to express the fruit, the terroir, and the vintage without artifice. The Mas del Périé has become an essential reference for lovers of great, vibrant, precise, and resolutely modern malbecs.
