Beaujolais
The Beaujolais AOC, established in 1937, covers about 22,000 hectares south of Burgundy. It mainly produces light, fruity red wines from the gamay grape, as well as some whites and rosés. The soils vary between granite and clay, influencing the wines’ finesse. Beaujolais pairs well with charcuterie, poultry, and Southern French cuisine. Notable producers include Georges Duboeuf, Château Thivin, and Jean Foillard.
