The Producer
Founded in 1626 in Ribeauvillé, Domaine Trimbach is one of the great historical signatures of Alsace wine. Passed down from generation to generation for nearly four centuries, the house has built an international reputation based on rigor, consistency, and a very precise vision of Alsace wine. The Trimbach family, now represented by the 13th generation, has always championed a dry, straight, and elegant style, becoming an absolute reference for Riesling.
The vineyard mainly extends around Ribeauvillé and Bergheim, on complex soils mixing limestone, marl, and sandstone, particularly suited to Alsatian grape varieties. The semi-continental, dry, and sunny climate allows for a slow and complete ripening of the grapes, enhancing the aromatic precision and natural tension of the wines. Some emblematic plots, such as the Grand Cru Geisberg or Osterberg, contribute to the depth and longevity of the estate's cuvées.
Today, Domaine Trimbach remains true to its historical style: dry, pure, and finely crafted wines, without seeking effect, designed to stand the test of time. The Riesling Clos Sainte Hune, the estate's legendary cuvée, embodies this quest for excellence and precision. Recognized worldwide, Trimbach wines appeal to both discerning enthusiasts and fine dining establishments, thanks to their integrity, finesse, and remarkable aging potential.
The Wine
The vines of Clos Sainte Hune are cultivated with extreme rigor, on a historic plot of the Grand Cru Rosacker, with deliberately very low yields to concentrate the expression of the terroir. The grapes are harvested at perfect ripeness and then gently pressed, followed by a slow and controlled fermentation that prioritizes aromatic purity and precision. The winemaking, without seeking artifice, aims to produce a dry Riesling that is straight and of exceptional longevity, true to the timeless style of Domaine Trimbach.
Tasting
The wine has a bright pale yellow color with silver reflections, indicating great purity. The nose, with remarkable intensity, reveals notes of ripe citrus, white flowers, flint, and a subtle iodized touch. On the palate, the wine impresses with its tension, crystalline precision, and endless finish, supported by a deep and elegant minerality, with an exceptional aging potential of several decades.
