The Producer
Domaine La Navicelle's modern history began in 1992, when its owners fell under the charm of a vineyard property located in Pradet, in the Var. Long used as a vacation spot, the estate gradually revealed its potential, prompting its owners to undertake a true transformation. In 2006, the arrival of winemaker Jannick Utard marked a decisive turning point: he deeply restructured the vineyard, modernized the facilities, and initiated a gradual upgrade of the wines. His work, carried out until 2019, allowed the estate to fully reveal the quality of its terroir.
Located a few kilometers from the Mediterranean, at the foot of the Colle Noire massif, Domaine La Navicelle benefits from an exceptional environment between the sea and the Provençal hills. The vineyards, planted on terraced slopes, rest on soils of red clay mixed with limestone, schist, and sandstone subsoils, favoring wines that are both structured and elegant. The maritime influence plays an essential role: the sea breezes temper the temperatures and bring a natural freshness, giving rise to wines marked by a beautiful tension and a characteristic saline signature.
Since 2019, the estate has been managed by Romain Magnanou, accompanied notably by Alice Euvrard, who continue the committed work while bringing a more contemporary vision. The vineyard, covering about 20 hectares, is run under organic farming and inspired by the principles of biodynamics, in a global logic of respect for the ecosystem. This demanding approach, combined with precise winemaking, gives birth to balanced, complex wines that are deeply rooted in their Mediterranean identity.
