The Producer
Château Doyac is a property in Haut-Médoc whose origins date back to the 19th century, as evidenced by the earliest references in Bordeaux archives. The estate underwent a decisive turning point in 1998 when it was taken over by the de Pourtalès family, attracted by the potential of this terroir located in Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne. Originating from a complete transformation, this family project has from the outset aimed to enhance the vineyard and reveal its full personality.
The vineyard covers approximately 27 hectares in one piece, situated on clay-limestone soils that bring freshness and finesse to the wines. Predominantly planted with Merlot complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon, it is now managed biodynamically, with certification obtained from the 2019 vintage. In a spirit of exploration, the estate has also introduced Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in IGP Atlantique, giving rise to unique cuvées. This experimental approach is accompanied by a diversification of styles, including low-intervention winemaking and varied aging processes, sometimes in alternative containers, always in search of purity of expression.
Today, Château Doyac is led by Max de Pourtalès, accompanied by his family, notably his daughter Clémence, an oenologist, who actively participates in the management of the estate. Together, they embody a modern vision of the Médoc, blending technical rigor, environmental sensitivity, and constant curiosity. The style of the wines is distinguished by their freshness, precision, and drinkability, with a true identity that moves away from classic standards to offer a more free and contemporary interpretation of Haut-Médoc.
