The Estate
Founded in 1838 in Aÿ by William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann, the House of Deutz quickly established itself as one of Champagne’s great names. Combining traditional winemaking expertise with entrepreneurial spirit, the founders built an international clientele by the end of the 19th century. Acquired in 1993 by the Rouzaud family (also owners of Louis Roederer), the house has maintained its independence and commitment to quality while modernizing its production facilities.
Located in Aÿ, a Grand Cru village in the Montagne de Reims, Deutz benefits from exceptional vineyards. The house sources grapes from a mosaic of carefully selected crus, with a strong emphasis on Pinot Noir, its signature grape. The chalky soils of Aÿ lend the wines both power and finesse, enhancing their aging potential, and are complemented by grapes from other Premier and Grand Cru villages.
Under the leadership of Fabrice Rosset, Deutz continues its pursuit of excellence with a range of elegant, complex, and balanced champagnes. Renowned for its Brut Classic—a benchmark of harmony and precision—the house also produces prestigious cuvées like Amour de Deutz and William Deutz, true expressions of its refined style. Discreet yet essential, Deutz is appreciated by discerning wine lovers and top gastronomic restaurants around the world.
The Wine
The Blanc de Blancs from Deutz is made exclusively from Chardonnay sourced from the finest vineyards of the Côte des Blancs, notably Avize, Mesnil-sur-Oger, and Villers-Marmery. Crafted using the traditional Champagne method, it undergoes a gentle pressing, fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, and then a long aging on the lees in the bottle – typically around 36 to 48 months.
Tasting
This champagne captivates with its crystalline purity, aromas of citrus and white flowers, and its silky texture, supported by elegant minerality and great precision.
