The Producer
Château Clerc Milon has its origins in the 18th century, in the heart of the Pauillac appellation. Long remaining discreet, it entered a new era in 1970 when Baron Philippe de Rothschild acquired it and integrated it into the prestigious family of Rothschild properties. Classified as a Fifth Growth in 1855, Clerc Milon has since benefited from significant investments and an ambitious quality vision, allowing it to establish itself as one of the most consistent and appealing estates in its classification.
The vineyard of Clerc Milon extends over deep gravel ridges typical of Pauillac, resting on a clay-limestone subsoil. This mosaic of soils offers ideal natural drainage and promotes a slow and complete ripening of the grapes. Cabernet Sauvignon dominates here, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Carmenère, a rare grape in the Médoc, which brings a unique aromatic signature and beautiful complexity to the blends.
Today, Château Clerc Milon embodies the modern elegance of Pauillac, combining controlled power, aromatic precision, and great texture finesse. The management of the vineyard, parcel-by-parcel harvesting, and rigorous vinification allow for a full expression of the terroir, vintage after vintage. The wines stand out for their balance, silky tannins, and remarkable aging potential, while remaining accessible in their youth, making Clerc Milon a reliable choice for both enthusiasts and collectors.
The Wine
Tasting
The wine presents a deep, vibrant garnet color.
The nose reveals finely roasted notes of spices and tobacco, combined with more intense aromas of red fruits, cherry pit, and a mineral touch.
The palate is ample, precise, dominated by the brightness of indulgent fruit and fine, flavorful tannins that lead to a hint of cocoa. The finish is long, warm, and enhanced by saline sensations. A superb achievement for a particularly demanding vintage.
