Château d'Yquem
Château d’Yquem is the only estate classified as Premier Cru Supérieur in the official 1855 Bordeaux wine classification, an undisputed symbol of excellence in Sauternes. Located on an exceptional terroir at the highest point of the Yquem commune, the vineyard benefits from a unique microclimate ideal for the development of noble rot (Botrytis cinerea), essential to the production of great sweet wines. Its clay and deep gravel soils, combined with optimal natural drainage, allow the vines—predominantly Sémillon complemented by Sauvignon Blanc—to reach perfect ripeness. Harvesting is carried out entirely by hand, over multiple passes, in order to select only the botrytized grapes at their peak concentration. This meticulous process and centuries-old expertise make Château d’Yquem an unmissable reference in the world of Bordeaux Grands Crus.
