Clos Vougeot is the largest Grand Cru in the Côte de Nuits, covering about 50 hectares in the village of Vougeot, Burgundy. This historic vineyard, enclosed since the 12th century by Cistercian monks from the Abbey of Cîteaux, produces powerful and structured red wines exclusively from pinot noir, often robust but capable of finesse and complexity depending on the plots. Fun fact: the vineyard is surrounded by a medieval wall almost 1.9 km long, a living testament to its monastic heritage. These wines pair well with rich dishes such as beef bourguignon, game, or aged cheeses.
