Château Carbonnieux

Château Carbonnieux, one of the oldest estates in Bordeaux, has its origins in the 13th century, founded by Benedictine monks from the Abbey of Sainte-Croix in Bordeaux. Its rich history is marked by remarkable continuity, with a reputation established as early as the 18th century thanks to the export of its wines to the Near East. Since 1956, it has been owned by the Perrin family, who have profoundly modernized the estate while preserving its historical identity.

Located in Léognan, in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, the vineyard extends over approximately 170 hectares, of which 100 are in production. The soil, composed of deep gravel resting on clay-limestone subsoils, is ideal for the cultivation of both red grape varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot) and white (Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon). This unique terroir gives the wines great finesse, persistent freshness, and exceptional aging potential.

Château Carbonnieux is one of the few classified growths in both red and white in the 1959 Graves classification. The estate is recognized for its white wines of crystalline purity and its elegant, structured reds. Under the direction of the fourth generation of the Perrin family, the estate continues its quest for excellence, combining tradition and oenological innovation, while committing to sustainable viticulture.
