Saint-Joseph
The Saint-Joseph AOC, established in 1956, covers about 920 hectares in the northern Rhône Valley. It mainly produces red wines from syrah grapes, with some whites from marsanne and roussanne. Granite soils on sloping hillsides yield elegant, fruity, and spicy wines with good aging potential. Pairings: cured meats, white meats, stews, goat cheeses. Notable producers: Domaine Jean-Louis Chave, Domaine Yves Cuilleron.
